"Media stories can turn into a game of Chinese whispers. For the record, I have never said I plan to be the first Kiwi in space, but I am the first New Zealander to book a ticket with Virgin Galactic. There is another New Zealander booked with Virgin Galactic in their 'First 100 Founders'.
Also, I didn't change my name because of the Virgin Galactic flight."
